Carol Mable Burgett Handrop passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 74. She was born on Wednesday, February 25, 1942, in Elmira, New York. She was a former resident of Chalmette, Louisiana, a current resident of Hammond, Louisiana, and a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church. Carol worked as a secretary for Frawley, Wogan and Miller Abstract Company, from the age of 19 until she retired at the age of 62.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband, Roland Derek Handrop; daughter, Lori Handrop-Mendoza and son-in-law, Richard M. Mendoza; four grandchildren, Mason, Mikah, MacKenzie and Taylor; and two sisters, Norma Hockford and Mary Billson. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, David Derek Handrop; infant daughter, Ellen Diane Handrop; mother, Nell Daniels House and stepfather, J.C. House; two brothers, George Burgett and James “Jimmy” Burgett; and one sister, Helen Fenger.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the chapel of Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until service time.
Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana.
