Roy Joseph Solis, Sr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the age of 91, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of his childhood sweetheart, Bridget M. Solis. Together they celebrated 66 years of marriage, friendship, love and laughter. Roy was the loving and proud father of Sam Solis (Rachel), Bridget Solis lmpastato (Joe), Susan Solis Powell (Randy) and Roy Solis, Jr. He was the grandfather of Gerry Michael Solis, Ginny Solis Powell (Jason), Timothy Jude Solis (Hillary), Amanda Powell Harpole (David), Joseph lmpastato, III (Katie), Maria lmpastato Genovese (Justin), David lmpastato (Kate) and Madeline Powell Lamalie (Doug). He is also survived and fondly remembered by his eight great grandchildren. Roy was a decorated veteran of the United States Navy who proudly served his country in WWII. He was well loved and will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather and brother, who loved his country and treasured his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – noon, followed by a funeral Mass in Roy’s memory beginning at noon.
