Myrtle Cosse Virgillio passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the age of 93. She was the cherished wife of the late Gasper Virgillio, Sr. Loving mother of Susan Virgillio Himes (Robert), Geismar, LA, Lynn Virgillio Bitz (Daniel), Avon, IN and the late Gasper Virgillio, II. Mother-in-law of Deborah Jackson Virgillio, Picayune, MS. Daughter of the late Carmen Barberot and Joseph A Cosse, Sr. Sister of Lawrence Cosse (Jane), Casa Grande, AZ and the late Lorraine Cosse Favalora (Edward J), Joseph A Cosse, Jr., Huey P Cosse and Shirley Cosse Fancher (Clarence F). Sister-in-law of Gail Reynolds Cosse, Denham Springs, LA and Earline Suire Cosse, Youngsville, LA. Proud grandmother of Chelsea Virgillio Nichols (Randy), Kiln, MS and Kyle Gasper Virgillio (Kristen), Slidell, LA. Great grandmother of Gage Walker Nichols and Layla Shae McArthur. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Myrtle was born July 31, 1923 in New Orleans, LA and was a lifelong resident of Chalmette, LA until 2005, currently residing in Gonzales, LA at time of her death. She will be forever remembered for her loyalty and dedication to her family, her caring and loving spirit, her laughter, her wonderful cooking, her love for sewing and spoiling the grandchildren. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, July 22nd from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in Myrtle’s memory beginning at 11:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband and son in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
