James Russell, III

James “Jimmy” Russell, III, fondly known as “Wrecker” by family and friends, born on February 18, 1951, passed away on November 15, 2017, at the age of 66. He was preceded in death by his parents, James “Jim” Russell, Jr. and Alice G. Russell, and his two precious twin boys, Billy and Pat. He is survived by his loving children, James Albert Russell (Jennifer) and Jill Russell Jeffrey (Mel), and was the cherished grandfather of James Jr. and Julia Russell and Lauryn, Landon and Laikyn Jeffrey. Brother of Brenda Russell Lovas (the late Don) and Bentley Russell (Marian.)

He was a graduate of Chalmette High School and was a lifelong resident of Delacroix Island. A well-respected fisherman and cattleman, Wrecker loved spending his days on the water and out in the field tending to his cows. He was a familiar face to his fellow fishermen and neighbors. Wrecker was well known in lower St. Bernard Parish and loved by everyone who knew him. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue Street, Chalmette, LA, on Saturday, November 25, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A service in Wrecker’s honor will be held at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
