Elsie Schmalz Wesner passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 12, 2018, at the age of 102. She was the cherished wife of the late Harry Louis Wesner Jr. Loving mother of Harry Louis Wesner III (companion Linda Traina). Daughter of the late Herman and Celeste Dumun Schmalz. Sister of the late Louis Schmalz, Beatrice Schmalz Wesner, Arthemise “Mim” Schmalz Koch, Eloise Schmalz Verges and her dear Garland Schmalz. Loving grandmother of Lester Klotz (Sherrie), Michael Klotz (Mary) and Katherine Klotz Weaver (Todd). She is also survived and fondly remembered by her 8 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchild along with many admiring nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.
Elsie was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 30, 1915, and a lifetime resident of St. Bernard Parish. She truly enjoyed life through her simple pleasures of cooking for friends and family, dancing and throwing parties at home and being a loving caregiver for us all. Her passion for card playing was surpassed only by the love for her family. Elsie was a devout Catholic who will be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to her Lord and Savior, her family, her caring and loving spirit and her laughter. She was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, February 21st from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Elsie’s memory beginning at 12:00 PM.
