The clinic openings mark the return of select services to St. Bernard Parish for the first time since Hurricane Katrina, including OB/GYN. Previously, patients had to drive to New Orleans, Metairie or the North Shore for annual exams, pregnancy care and menopause treatment and education. Patients can now enjoy women’s health services close to home, including prenatal appointments.

“Ochsner Health Center – St. Bernard and Ochsner Specialty Health Center – St. Bernard ensure that the residents of St. Bernard Parish have access to primary and specialty care without having to travel to New Orleans or the North Shore,” said St. Bernard Parish CEO, Kim Keene. “The return of specialty services to this area for the first time since Hurricane Katrina provides convenience to thousands of people in St. Bernard Parish. This is an exciting demonstration of our commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare for our community.”

The SBPH Service District Board approved a long-term strategic partnership with Ochsner Health System in September 2017 to continue day-to-day management of SBPH. Patients of the hospital and clinics get the benefit of Epic, Ochsner’s electronic health record system, which safely and securely shares patient information, and MyOchsner. Epic allows physicians, nurses and care teams to access important patient information across the system, no matter which facility a patient visits. With MyOchsner, patients can securely request and schedule medical appointments, pay medical bills, view their health summary and test results, request prescription renewals, access trusted health information resources, and communicate electronically and securely with their healthcare team. Once our patients have established an account, our team of clinicians from across the system will be able to access and update their information no matter where you are, creating a truly integrated approach to your care.

SBPH provides high-quality, comprehensive care in its state-of-the-art facility. The hospital’s team of more than 350 employees and 90 physicians offer services including 24/7 emergency care, comprehensive imaging and a variety of specialties.
