Girl Scouts Louisiana East invites new girls to earn Cybersecurity badge at Microsoft in Lakeside Mall

Girl Scouts are ready to take the Cybersecurity world by storm.

Hackers, beware! Girl Scouts are gaining skills to master and stop cybercrime. Girls in grades K through five are invited to earn the Cybersecurity badge and learn more about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience at the Microsoft store in Lakeside Mall on Saturday, August 25, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The informational meeting will provide girls and their families the opportunity to ask questions and register their daughters in Girl Scouts, and allow girls to participate in a hands-on cybersecurity activity with Microsoft. Adults interested in volunteering are encouraged to join.

“Girl Scouts unites the best of its legacy experiences — like outdoor adventure, camping, and its cookie program with exciting, modern programs in STEM and engineering to ensure a truly one-of-a-kind experience for today’s girls,” said Girl Scouts Louisiana East External Recruiting Specialist, Taymika Byrd. “Girls can expect to discover new interests, connect with others, and take action on issues that are important to build a lifetime of leadership.”

The annual Girl Scout membership fee is $25 for both girls and adults. Favorite activities include the outdoors, health and fitness, the arts, science and technology, travel, cookie-selling, and much more. For more information about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, visit www.gsle.org.

The Girl Scout program levels are Girl Scout Daisies, grades K-1; Girl Scout Brownies, grades 2-3; Girl Scout Juniors, grades 4-5; Girl Scout Cadettes, grades 6-8; Girl Scout Seniors, grades 9-10; Girl Scouts Ambassadors, grades 11-12.
