John Wiley Loftis

John Wiley Loftis was born May 20, 1931, to William Thomas and Elizabeth Dousmen Wiley Loftis in New Orleans La. John was 1 of 5 children, Walter Loftis, William (Buck) Loftis Florence Fricken, all deceased and Mary Beninato who still lives in New Orleans, La.

On Nov. 20, 2018, he died peacefully at home surrounded by his daughters and the love of his life his wife, Nancy. John would have given his children the moon and waxed poetic over Nancy! John served in the US Army in the Korean War. He worked for an oil Company in the Persian Gulf where he met Maria Benito and brought back to the states and established his family in St Bernard Parish, living in Meraux and Reggio during that time. Maria and John raised 4 children. He was a trapper, fisherman, crabber, and shrimper during the late ’60s and early ’70s. John was a jack-of-all-trades. He became a TV repairman, learned HVAC, he could find work doing just about anything to provide for his family. He finished his work career with Tastee Donuts as a maintenance manager for various stores. He then moved to Spokane in the late ’80s. He met Nancy in the early ’90s and they married in 2006. They then moved to Athol Idaho in 2012. He is survived by his wife and daughters Vickie Pregeant (Larry) Folsom, La, Maria, Portland, Oregon Belinda Carroll (Larry) Albany Oregon, his son, Johnny Loftis , (Maryann)Metairie, La and his grandchildren, Brad, Sean Pregeant (Ashley) Folsom, La, Taylor Anderson and Garrett Anderson, Beaverton, Oregon

His memorial was held Saturday, Dec. 15 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 8162 W. Nagel St, Rathdrum, ID.
