St. Bernard Parish Drug Court Team Participated In A Conference In Lake Charles

The St. Bernard Parish Drug Court team recently participated in a conference in Lake Charles, LA which was held by the Louisiana Drug and Specialty Courts (LADSC) in Association with the Louisiana Supreme Court Drug and Specialty Court Office.  A “Drug Court” is a court specifically designated to administer cases referred for judicially supervised drug treatment and rehabilitation within a jurisdiction. The conference’s agenda discussed topics that were centered around reducing substance abuse, crime and recidivism; promoting and advocating for the establishment and funding of effective Drug Courts in Louisiana; providing technical assistance and mutual aid to association members; stimulating development of other judicially supervised treatment programs, in cases where appropriate; collecting and providing ways to disseminate information related to the purposes of the organization; and performing such other related activities to accomplish the stated goals and activities.

The St. Bernard Parish Drug Court works in cooperation with community and governmental agencies to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to reduce recidivism and to address substance abuse issues.
