St. Bernard Parish Granted Temporary Restraining Order Against Flood Protection Authority

A Temporary Restraining Order was issued to the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority from divesting themselves of drainage and pumping in St. Bernard Parish.

A Temporary Restraining Order has been issued to Lambert “Joe” Hassinger, The Lake Borgne Basin Levee District, the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – East, and the Board of Commissioners Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – East from divesting (1) the Lake Borgne Basin Levee District of its statutorily imposed drainage and pumping obligations in St. Bernard Parish; (2) abandoning its statutorily imposed drainage and pumping obligations in St. Bernard Parish; and (3) ceasing any and all operations supporting its drainage and pumping functions in St. Bernard Parish.

It is further ordered, adjudged and decreed that this Temporary Restraining Order shall remain in effect until the hearing on the preliminary injunction on July 8th, 2019. Parish President Guy McInnis was satisfied with this morning’s court decision in hopes of creating a further dialog in an attempt to come to a fair resolution.
