Summer readers who have been exploring the far reaches of great books for the past six weeks are asked to return to the home base of the St. Bernard Parish Library, 2600 Palmisano Blvd. in Chalmette, for the last week of activities. Library friends will shine like stars in the sky when they attend the ‘Twinkle, Twinkle’ story craft program set for Tuesday, July 9th at 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday, July 10th at 11 a.m. Listeners will hear Eric Carle’s Draw Me a Star and make a take-home constellation viewer. All materials will be provided and attendance is free.
Re-entry into the library’s orbit can get really, really hot and thanks to Chalmette’s Raising Cane’s the library has just the thing to help cool things off. Readers are invited to attend the Cool Down with Cane’s and a Craft event set for Thursday, July 11th at 11:30 a.m. Participants will make a take-home fan and sip on some delicious Canes’ tea or lemonade.
Readers need to jump into warp speed to finish their activity sheets in time for the July 11th deadline. Late entries will not be accepted on the day of the drawing(s) and winners must be present to claim their prizes. Prize drawings are set for Friday, July 12th at 3 p.m. for pre-readers through 5th graders and Saturday July 13th at 11:30 a.m. for 6th through 12th graders. Readers who are unable to attend their respective prize drawings or who have not completed their activity sheets have until Saturday, August 3rd to finish and receive their reading rewards. Adults also have until August 3rd to complete their bingo games in order to receive their reward and to be entered in their prize drawing on August 6th. Adult winners will be notified by phone.
