Today, Parish President Guy McInnis signed an Executive Order placing St. Bernard Parish in a State of Emergency in response to the opening of the Bonnet Carre Spillway.
In response to the Bonnet Carre Spillway being opened for the third time in 15-months, St. Bernard Parish Government enacted a State of Emergency. The drastic influx of freshwater from the Mississippi River is expected to cause devastating reverberations on the local estuaries and marshes in and around St. Bernard Parish. These inundated areas will have a direct economic impact on the fishing industry of our community. This order has been executed to begin the process of seeking financial assistance for these anticipated loses. For those interested, they can find the signed Executive Order attached to this email.
