Summer Reading Fun Continues at The St. Bernard Parish Library

We are still letting our imagination run wild for the St. Bernard Parish Library’s 2020 Imagine Your Story VIRTUAL Summer Reading Program.  Library friends of all ages are invited to visit the library’s summer reading webpage at mysbpl.org/srp2020 to connect with all of our online activities.  The programs may be virtual, but the fun is real!

Emmy award winning Page Turner Adventures will continue their weekly programming with ‘Imagine your Science Story’ for Week 3 (June 15-19) and ‘Imagine your Adventure Story’ for Week 4 (June 22-26).  Each week Kenny Mikey and Riley Roam, a.k.a. the Page Turner, will lead summer reader viewers on daily quests for awesome stories, cool crafts, interesting interviews, and special guests.

Adding to the library’s Summer Arts series are Friday performances by a variety of artists.  Week 3 will feature Curtis Pierre with his Brazilian and Samba Percussion program.  Library friends will be treated to a program created especially for the St. Bernard Parish Library by the MetroPelican Opera during the 4th week of our summer activities.  The MetroPelican Opera is an educational branch of the New Orleans Opera Association.

All of the programming being presented on the library’s summer reading webpage can be streamed from wherever our summer readers are.  Patrons are asked to check the online calendar for the dates streaming is available.

The library’s Summer Arts virtual performances have been made possible by funding from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, and as administered by the St. Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs, St. Tammany Parish Government. Funding has also been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, Art Works as well as a donation from Arlette and Wayne Nunez and the Shell Matching Funds Gift Program.

Summer readers are encouraged to invite their friends to read and watch and create with them this summer.  Tell them about your St. Bernard Parish Library so that they can join in the fun too.  Participate by sharing comments during programs.  Leave posts telling what you are doing as a summer reader.  Share pictures of your crafts.  Let’s make this virtual summer reading event the best one it can be!  For more information, please contact the library by calling 504-279-0448, by emailing us via the Contact Us button on our website at www.mysbpl.org, or messaging us through Facebook.
