St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office Arrests Two Teens For Having A Firearm At School

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office has arrested two juveniles for having a firearm in their possession while on a school campus, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

A 13-year-old male and a 14-year-old female, both students at a St. Bernard Parish public middle school, were booked at the St. Bernard Parish Juvenile Detention Center Friday with carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon by a student or nonstudent on school property.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call about a student at the school having a weapon on campus.

During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau determined the male student brought the firearm to school, and, at some point in the day, asked the female student to hold the handgun for him for a period of time.

Sheriff Pohlmann said deputies recovered the handgun, a black Taurus 38 Special revolver, which did not have ammunition in it. No one was injured in the incident, the Sheriff said.

The investigation is ongoing
