The St. Bernard Kiwanis Foundation presents a check to the ARC of St. Bernard on December 14, 2020. The Arc of St. Bernard is located at 3700 Jean Lafitte Pkwy, Chalmette, and provides for the special needs adults in St. Bernard Parish a place to go and use their talents to create great items and recycle Mardi Gras beads. The Kiwanis Club of St. Bernard mentors a service club there called the Aktion Club. The Kiwanians work alongside the Aktion Club members to provide community service.
The check will be used to purchase chairs, bulletin boards, shelving, sound system, Covid signs, and paint & supplies to refurbish the Aktion Club meeting rooms. The Kiwanians will work alongside the Aktion Club members to construct and install the needed items and paint the meeting rooms.
The Aktion Club has been a sponsored program of the Kiwanis Club of St. Bernard for over 30 years. For more information on joining the Kiwanis Club, please contact Robby Showalter at 504-616-7312. If you would like to attend a meeting, the Kiwanis Club meets every Tuesday at noon at Rocky and Carlos Sicilian room. The public is invited.
