Yearly fire hydrant inspections are currently being conducted.
The St. Bernard Parish Fire Department has begun hydrant inspections. Inspections will take place in all areas and neighborhoods throughout St. Bernard Parish, Monday–Friday from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. The fire department conducts hydrant inspections each year to ensure our firefighters are familiar with hydrant locations and operations.
Hydrant inspections will last approximately six weeks during which time our firefighters will open each hydrant for approximately two minutes to record pressure and flow readings, some residents may experience “rusty” colored water when turning on their home faucets and appliances. Simply running the water for a few minutes should resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience our residents and business community may experience.
