Today, the Brooke Erin Posey Foundation proudly announces that their annual Brooke E. Posey Swim-a-Thon & Family FUNraiser will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Southern Yacht Club located at 105 N. Roadway, New Orleans, LA 70124, and is open to the public. The Foundation, founded in memory of Brooke Posey, who lost her life in a tragic automobile accident at 17, selects a local children’s charity to support each summer. This year’s event will raise money for Heart of Passion, a local nonprofit whose mission is to support teens who have cancer.
Twenty years ago, a 16-year-old with cancer, Savannah Solomon, wanted a break for her hospital friends, and she planned a weekend retreat for other teens with cancer to hang out, feel like VIPs, and just be teens. She named this retreat “Red Carpet Day, and her friends from school helped her host the event. From that event, Heart of Passion was born and since then, Ms. Solomon has continued the “for teens, from teens” programming model and it has allowed Heart of Passion to connect teens living with cancer to each other to form an emotional support structure in an environment that only teens themselves could create. Simultaneously, the teen leaders personally experience the value and purpose of their work and compassion while they plan and execute each summer’s retreat.

This year’s Under the Sea-themed event provides fun for all ages, and there are many ways to support Swim for Brooke & Heart of Passion. At the one-day event on June 7th, families can play games to earn tokens to trade for many fun prizes, enjoy music and food, an online auction, and try their luck in the parade of prizes raffle. On June 7th, they can also participate in the swim-a-thon portion of the event by swimming laps at the Southern Yacht Club. If individuals want to participate in the swim-a-thon virtually, they can swim at their own location until June 7th. Registration for the Swim-a-Thon is open at www.swimforbrooke.com. Registered swimmers will receive a 2025 t-shirt and a swimmer’s swag bag.
The entertainment for this year’s event is Audio Jocks DJ, the Amelia Earhawts, Southern Charm Dance Team, the Legendary Order of the Casket Girls & others.
