Bobby Nuss Stadium was packed when the Chalmette High’s Class of 2025 donned their caps and gowns and officially walked into the next chapter of their lives. Warm evening sunlight and a pleasant breeze were the perfect backdrop for the celebration, hinting at long summer days and adventures to come as these graduates make their way out into the world.
The event kicked off with the procession of Class Officers and Honor Graduates to the stage, followed by a warm welcome from Master of Ceremonies and Senior Class President Tyrielle Daresnburg. Senior Class Treasurer Cadence Dettwiller read the Invocation, followed by the AFJROTC’s Presentation of Colors and the National Anthem, performed by CHS chorus and band. Hasan Kahla, Senior Class Corresponding Secretary, led the Pledge of Allegiance before handing the mic to Senior Class Vice President Trey Meyers who introduced the onstage guests.
Lt. Colonel Michael Pechon, representing J. Claude Meraux American Legion Post 360 Chalmette, presented the American Legion Award to Trey Meyers, given to a student who possesses the qualities of courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship, and service.
Superintendent Doris Voitier, introduced by Senior Class Recording Secretary Winnie Li, addressed the seniors, congratulating them on a successful year and reflecting on how far they’ve come. “It is a privilege to stand before you on this momentous occasion. You have earned this celebration. Through your resilience, your hard work, and your growth, you’ve made it here – together.” Ms. Voitier reminded the seniors that their perseverance and dedication will lead them in their respective journeys. She also ended with this reminder. “Remember – you are loved and you will always have a place here because you are — and will always be — a part of our Owl family.”
11 seniors were named as Valedictorians for the Class of 2025. Each was seated on stage as an honoree and given the chance to address those attending. They included:

Will Schneider, a former Chalmette High Owl and Assistant Principal who served this year as Principal for the Class of 2025, highlighted the remarkable accomplishments of the graduating class. He shared that the students earned over $21 million in scholarships—a record-breaking achievement that speaks volumes about their perseverance and ambition. Their success stands as a true testament to the dedication and tenacity of the Class of 2025.
Principal Wayne Warner was also on hand to speak to the seniors, reminding them that every day is a new beginning. “Everyday is a chance to do something great, and the choice is always yours,” Warner said. “You can have a happy life if you choose it. You decide if you’re going to do the right thing, take advantage of the right opportunities, like those you had during these four precious years at Chalmette High. Every day, I hope you remember that the choices you make today shape your world tomorrow.”
Chalmette High Assistant Principal Carole Mundt announced the graduates who crossed the stage to receive their diplomas. Then, Senior Class Historian Lily Vu read the Benediction. The ceremony concluded fittingly with Chalmette High’s Alma Mater, followed by cheers and well wishes as these leaders of tomorrow leave the nest. Congratulations to the Class of 2025, and FLY HIGH!
