Young baseball players aged 7-12 will have several opportunities to sharpen their skills this summer under the guidance of Nunez Community College Baseball players and coaches.
The Nunez Baseball Youth Skills Camp holds its first session June 16 and continues through July 3. Parents signing their young players up for camp will have their choice of half-day camps during morning and afternoon hours, full-day camps, or three-day packages that include two half-day camps and a full-day camp.
Half-day camps are $75. Full-day camps are $120. Three-day packages are $220. Tickets are available now at Nunez.edu.
All camps will take place in the newly renovated Physical Activity Center (PAC) on the Nunez campus, located at the corner of W. Liberaux St. and Lafontaine St. in Chalmette.
Half-day afternoon camps will run 4 p.m.-7 p.m. on June 16, 23 and 30.
Half-day morning camps will run 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on June 18, 25, and July 2.
Full-day camps will run 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on June 20, 27 and July 3. Lunch will be provided during full-day camps.
Discounted three-day packages will be grouped by week. Week 1 camps include June 16 in the afternoon, June 18 in the morning, and all day June 20. Week 2 camps include June 23 in the afternoon, June 25 in the morning, and all day June 27. Week 3 camps include June 30 in the afternoon, July 2 in the morning, and all day July 3.
Nunez Baseball’s Youth Skills Camp will emphasize teaching and improving each camper’s mechanics and awareness. The full-day camps on Fridays will cover all areas, while the half-day camps will focus more on a specific area of the game, including:
- Baseball Fundamentals
- Foundation of Hitting
- Foundation of Defense
- Foundation of Catching
- Baserunning
- In-Game situations
Any questions about the camps can be emailed to Nunez Director of Development and Assistant Baseball Coach Alex Powell at apowell@nunez.edu.
