KLB Affiliate Network cleans up and beautifies communities across the state
Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) welcomes five new Community Affiliates to its network of community improvement organizations: the city of Alexandria, the city of Carencro, the city of Grambling, the town of Sterlington, and the Jefferson Westbank. KLB’s statewide network of 44 Community Affiliates is comprised of passionate local leaders working diligently to stop litter, improve recycling and waste reduction, and beautify public spaces.
“These communities are setting an example for the rest of Louisiana,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “They are proud of where they live, and they don’t want to see litter impact the local economy, environment, and citizens’ quality of life. I can’t wait to see what these Keep Louisiana Beautiful Affiliates are able to accomplish this year. Thank you for being leaders against litter.”
The formation of Keep Alexandria Beautiful has been led by Deborah Randolph, President of Central Louisiana Regional Chamber of Commerce and the City of Alexandria.
“The Central Louisiana Regional Chamber Board and I are grateful to Mayor Jacques Roy and the Alexandria City Council for their vision and leadership in partnering with us to establish an Affiliate of Keep Louisiana Beautiful, Clean Alex-Keep Alexandria Beautiful,” said Deborah Randolph, President, Central Louisiana Regional Chamber of Commerce. “The City of Alexandria previously developed Clean Alex, a well-executed program to address litter and enhance beautification efforts. Establishment of the Affiliate as a partnership between the city and the chamber will serve to increase involvement in this effort by businesses, neighborhood groups, and individuals.”
Keep Carencro Beautiful’s formation has been led by Brett Ashy, former Assistant to the Mayor, and Danielle Capritto, Carencro City Councilwoman.
“We are proud to launch Keep Carencro Beautiful as an official Affiliate of Keep Louisiana Beautiful,” said Councilwoman Danielle Capritto. “This partnership marks a new chapter in our city’s commitment to a cleaner, greener, and more vibrant community for generations to come.”
Keep Grambling Beautiful’s formation was led by Grambling City Council Representative DeVaria Ponton.
“Becoming an Affiliate of Keep Louisiana Beautiful is more than a commitment; it’s a community promise to take pride in our city, stop litter at its source, and transform public spaces into places of beauty, health, and hope,” said Council Representative DeVaria Ponton. “By rolling up our sleeves together, we show we care about our streets, our neighbors, and the future we’re building right here at home in Grambling! We’re committed to keeping our historic City of Grambling beautiful!”
Keep Sterlington Beautiful’s formation was led by Mayor Matt Talbert and City Councilwoman Erica Hughes.
“As Mayor of Sterlington, I am proud to announce the official formation of Keep Sterlington Beautiful, a community-driven initiative dedicated to preserving the natural beauty, cleanliness, and pride of our town,” said Mayor Matt Talbert. “This new program reflects the values we hold dear – civic responsibility, environmental stewardship, and hometown pride. Through organized clean-up efforts, educational outreach, and community engagement, Keep Sterlington Beautiful will serve as a catalyst for positive change and a cleaner future. I want to thank our dedicated residents, local businesses, and volunteers who have already stepped forward with ideas, energy, and enthusiasm. Together, we will foster a culture of respect for our environment and shared public spaces.”
The formation of Keep the Westbank Beautiful was led by Jefferson Parish community advocates, Chris Breaux and Chad Sherman. Both Chris and Chad are active leaders in local civic and environmental efforts.
“Our Keep the Westbank Beautiful team is ecstatic with the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Affiliate status recently attained,” said Chad Sherman. “The process of developing working relationships and learning of the resources available within the state office has been fantastic and will propel our organization to develop an anti-litter culture in our community. We are so thankful to all those who nurtured our efforts in guiding our team to become Keep the Westbank Beautiful.”
To achieve Affiliation, the five organizations were required to form a steering committee, select a coordinator/point of contact, determine the organizational structure and governing body, form a mission statement and logo, attend KLB training sessions, conduct a Community Assessment and Litter Survey, create a one-year plan, establish a budget, and announce their Affiliate status.
“Our Affiliate network plays a vital role in advancing Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s mission to foster cleaner, greener communities across the state,” said Cabell Mouton, Director of Community Engagement and Affiliate Services. “We’re excited to welcome five new Community Affiliates to the network and look forward to the impact they will have on their communities.”
In 2023-2024, the Community Affiliate network worked diligently to clean up and beautify Louisiana. Here are some of their accomplishments:
Removed 67,560 cigarette butts

Removed 12,983 pounds of litter from waterways
