If so, the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office invites you to attend its upcoming Job Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 3 to 7 p.m. outside the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center, 8245 W. Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette (Jean Lafitte Parkway side).
At the Job Fair, you’ll be able to meet deputies from several divisions, learn more about what SBSO has to offer, and even submit your application on site.
Be sure to bring copies of the following documents: (Copies can be made at the event if needed.)
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Driver’s license
- Social Security card
- Birth certificate
- DD-214 (for veterans)
- POST certificate (if applicable)
The Sheriff’s Office provides a wide variety of career paths in Corrections, Patrol, and Communications, with a starting salary of $45,200 that increases to $52,400 after one year with state pay, plus competitive benefits.
Attendees will hear directly from deputies about how a career in law enforcement not only allows you to protect and serve but also offers personal growth, leadership opportunities and a strong sense of camaraderie. Visitors also will be able to check out some of the Sheriff’s Office’s specialized equipment, such as the Mobile Command Post and armored vehicle.
Sgt. Brian Canepa, SBSO’s recruiter, will be on hand to answer questions about qualifications, the hiring process, and how to apply.
