34 Community Affiliates honored for working to clean up and beautify Louisiana
BATON ROUGE, La. – Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) and Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser announced the 34 Community Affiliates meeting the requirements for the 2025 KLB Circle of Excellence. Annually, KLB honors Community Affiliates who meet specific benchmarks grounded in professional development, commitment to the Affiliate network, and the implementation of programming resulting in long-term community improvement.
The 34 Community Affiliates recognized during the KLB State Conference in September include: Abbeville, Abita, Algiers, Ascension, Assumption, Baker, Bossier, Calcasieu, Covington, DeRidder, Desoto, Eunice, French Quarter, Hammond, Jefferson, Lacombe, Lafayette, Lafourche, Lake Charles, Livingston, Mandeville, Monroe, Ouachita, Shreveport, Slidell, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, West Baton Rouge, and West Monroe.
“These communities exemplify what it means to Let Louisiana Shine,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “Their commitment to keeping Louisiana clean and beautiful reflects the pride we all share in our state. By working together and being an example of what it means to be Leaders Against Litter, these Community Affiliates are helping ensure Louisiana remains a place we are proud to call home. They’re not just improving where they live, they’re inspiring others across Louisiana to do the same.”
“The Affiliate network is the heart of our mission,” said Cabell Mouton, KLB Community Engagement and Affiliate Services Director. “Their dedication brings KLB’s mission to life, making Louisiana cleaner and brighter from generations to come.”
There are 44 Community Affiliates in the KLB network, along with 13 University Affiliates. Being an Affiliate is a special mark of distinction and represents a commitment to improving community appearance, promoting citizen engagement and environmental stewardship, and implementing outcomes-based programs. Affiliation offers state recognition and sends a strong message to Louisianans, as well as city and state leaders.
In 2024-2025, the KLB Affiliate network, alongside its grantees, mobilized over 61,000 volunteers and engaged thousands of schools, governments, and organizations to create cleaner, greener communities. Together, they have invested nearly $5 million in volunteer value, removed tens of thousands of cigarette butts, and carried out thousands of cleanups across the state.
