The members of the Oliver Pollock Chapter, Francois de Lery Chapter and the Vieux Carre’ Chapter “joined forces” to cut, sew and iron 172 patriotic inspired “Pillowcases for Patriots” and presented them to Michele Colindres, Assistant Activities Coordinator of the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve. They sewed enough pillowcases so that each war veteran can be given a pillowcase and as new war veterans enter the home they, too, will receive a patriotic pillowcase. The idea was developed by Oliver Pollock Chapter’s Organizing Regent, Mary Ellen Menge. The ladies met once a week for 7 weeks to complete the project.
