Vincent DiCarlo peacefully entered eternal rest on November 22 at the age of 103, only 36 days from his 104 birthday on December 28, 1912. A native of Alia, Sicily and a life-long resident of Braithwaite, LA. Son of the late Jiachino and Josephine Gangi DiCarlo. Loving husband of the late Mary Carderara DiCarlo. Father of the late Jiachino J. DiCarlo. Survived by his devoted daughter, Josephine D. Schell (Albert) and grandsons Vincent E. DiCarlo (Amy), Perry J. DiCarlo (Donna), Albert Schell IV (Theresa) and granddaughter Rosalie S. Larson (Keven). Beloved great grandfather of Dominique, Christian, Jiachino & Jared DiCarlo and Alyssa & Alayna Schell. Father-in-law of Dolores D. Brignac, brother of Saraphine D. Cannizaro, brother-in-law of Grace K. DiCarlo and E.J. Grob. Vincent was predeceased by his brother Salvador A. DiCarlo, sisters Rosalie D. Orfanello, Annie D. Piediscalzo, Marie D. Meyers, Angelina D. Grob and parental guardian of Frances Carderara Falgout.
Vincent wasn’t only a successful farmer, selling his produce in the French Market, but also noted for his keen eye as a produce manager for over 25 years at Puglia’s Grocery Store. His passions in life were farming, dancing, traveling, social gatherings and the art of a salesman, in which building customer relations was more important than the sale of the product.
The family wishes to thank Dr. John Thien, who was always there when needed, the hospital staff at St. Bernard Hospital, nurses Wendy and Donna from AmeraCare and the staff at the Sanctuary Passages Hospice for their kindness and loving care.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 West Virtue Street, Chalmette, LA 70043 on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 8:30am-11:30am with a Catholic Mass to immediately follow. Interment in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery No. 3.
