Ignatius Thomas Riggio

Heaven gained another angel on December 3, 2016 in the name of Ignatius Thomas “Tommy” Riggio. Tommy was born on January 6, 1937 to Salvador Riggio and Mary Marino Riggio Maldonado. Step-son of Peter “Pancho” Maldonado. Tommy was the loving husband of Brenda Smith Riggio for 58 years. Devoted father of Tammy Riggio, Thomas “T.J.” Riggio (Christie) and Todd Riggio (Shannon). Proud grandfather of Dustin, Tommy (Erika), Travis Riggio, Jesse and Julie Morton, Torie Riggio Hinyup (Corey), Taylor and Tessie Riggio. Great grandfather of Tre, Jordan & Hallie Riggio, Allie Morton, Landen Dudoussat, Peyton and Parker Hinyup. Brother of Faye “DeeDee” Sampey (Harold), Lainy Maldonado, Suzanne Imbraguglio (Jed) and Deborah Stansbury (Gus). He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Tommy had been the owner/operator of Diamond Drayage and then Diamond Trucking. He loved being in his truck. If he wasn’t in his truck, he would usually be found under the trucks doing repairs. Tommy had been a member of the St. Bernard Jubilees, Happy Times Squares, Rip & Snort Square Dance Club, Mandeville Seniors and New Orleans Traffic & Transportation Club.

Special thanks to Tricia Turgeau for the loving care of Tommy for almost 2 years, and the nurses and CNA’s of Hearts of Hospice.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, December 1st from 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service in Tommy’s memory beginning at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
