Kenneth Sterling Edler

Kenneth Sterling Edler, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Chalmette, LA for the past 47 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the age of 77. Kenneth was born on October 24, 1939. He enjoyed a long career and retirement from Avondale Shipyards as a sheet metal foreman and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was an avid fisherman, home gardener and a loving husband, father and grandfather. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Sterling and Lottie Edler. He is survived by his cherished wife of 51 years, Lois Vosbein Edler. Loving father of Stephen Edler (Shelley Edler) and Sandra Edler (Patrick Comstock). Proud grandfather of Mason, Aiden and Avery. Brother of Earline Miller. Sisters-in-law, Viola Vosbein (the late Eric Vosbein), Judith Perez (the late Joseph Perez), and brother-in-law, Frederick Vosbein (Beth Vosbein). He is also survived and fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was well loved and will be deeply missed by his family and by all those whose lives he touched.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, March 9th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service in Kenneth’s memory beginning at 1:00 p.m. He was laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
