Gaynel Deogracias Evans passed away peacefully at her home while surrounded by her family on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the age of 77. She was the beloved wife of the late Warren A. “Rooster” Evans, Sr. Loving mother of Ricky J. Evans (Melissa R.), Perry A. Evans, and the late Warren A. Evans, Jr., Michael P. Evans, and Philip Evans. Proud grandmother of Warren A. Evans, III (Rachael M.), Kerry A. Miller, Kadee E. Martinez (Matthew M.), Casey M. Evans (Casey B.), Sr., Kristy L. Evans (Leonard), Cody M. Evans (Courtney), and Colin J. Evans. Great grandmother of Taylar M. Evans, Anthony J. Prats, Jaylynn S. Prats, Anzlie A. Miller, Casey M. Evans, Jr., Mattiee L. Martinez, Ryleigh Evans, Micha L. Hogan, Malaya E. Hogan and soon to be Gauge Evans. Daughter of the late Philip “Babe” and Verna Deogracias. Sister of Mary Ann Bergeron, Philip Deogracias, Jr. and Alan Deogracias, Sr. Gaynel is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and especially Karen K. Miller.
Gaynel was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish and enjoyed a long and rewarding career with Tulane Medical Center. When she wasn’t working hard at the hospital, she enjoyed the company of her friends and especially cooking for her kids and grandkids every Sunday (we loved her roast the most!). She was well loved and will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a friend of many, who treasured her family.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial gathering at House of Refuge Assembly of God Church, 1561 E. LA 46, St. Bernard, LA on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until noon, followed by a memorial service beginning at noon.
