Marguerite Savoye Perkins

Marguerite “Buddie” Savoye Perkins passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the age of 91. She was the cherished wife for over 50 years to the late Alton S. Perkins Sr. Loving mother of Diane P. Gioe (Joseph), Alton Scott Perkins Jr. (Maureen), Terry Paul Perkins (Kay) and Peggy P. Robert (Sidney). Daughter of the late Henry and Elveisha Lemoine Savoye. Sister of the late Charles “Pete” Savoye, Elveisha “Sis” Voelker, Marie Ricouard, Ethel Graff and Louise Duplantier. She is also survived and fondly remembered by her 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Marguerite was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Metairie, LA. She was a volunteer at Our Lady of Prompt Succor School & Church, volunteered and worked at the American Red Cross, was a member of the Circle 4 Square Dance Association, the Jefferson Golden Age Center and the St. Bernard Jubilee. She was known for her keen memory and her love of telling stories during her beloved family gatherings. She loved sewing, dancing, playing games with her grandchildren and her trips to Waveland, MS and the casinos. She was well loved and will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, who loved & praised her Lord and treasured her family and friends.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, April 18th from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in Marguerite’s memory beginning at 11:00 a.m. She was laid to rest with her beloved husband in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
