Glenda Alonzo Hoselle passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the age of 79. Beloved wife of the late Jacques J. Hoselle, Sr. for 54 years. Loving mother of Jacques J. Hoselle, Jr. (Lisa); Cheryl Hoselle Hurstell; Yvette Hoselle Ware (John); Stephen Hoselle (Gwen) and Denise Hoselle Bishop (Ray). Sister of Kathleen Alonzo Lacour, and the late Martin J. Alonzo, Jr. Proud grandmother of Chad, Chase, Christopher, Elizabeth Hoselle and Justine Ware. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and her furever friend, Bojangles.
Glenda was born on September 16, 1937 in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Chalmette, LA for 43 years. She has been a resident of Slidell, LA since Hurricane Katrina.
Glenda was a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School and also attended the University of New Orleans. She dedicated her life to teaching dance to young people for many years. Glenda started at the St. Bernard Recreation Department, and then opened the Glenda Hoselle School of Dance, where she founded the Jazz Connection and The New Youth Ballet Company. The school remained open for 30 years until she retired. After that, she continued teaching and choreographing dance for Northlake Dance Academy.
After moving to Slidell, Mrs. Hoselle was active in several clubs including the Slidell Newcomers, Stitch in Time, and The Nightingales Choral Group.
Relatives and friends were invited to attend a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. A funeral Mass followed at noon at Our Lady Of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA.
