Mattie Zimmer, a St. Bernard resident, received the New Orleans City Council LaToya Cantrell Citizenship Award. Each year, a male and female are selected from each of the New Orleans District B schools in recognition of excellence in civic awareness, scholastic achievement, and community service.
Mattie, an 11th grader, received this recognition along with fellow Holy Rosary student Alex Dupuy, a 12th grader and Kenner resident.
