Nelva Hoover Muhoberac went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the age of 92. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life. She was the loving mother of Matthew Muhoberac (Libby), Stephen Muhoberac (Colleen) and Ann Heier (Steven). Daughter of the late Dennis and Catherine Larsen Hoover. Sister of the late Dennis Hoover (Margie), Herbert Hoover (Odelia), Shirley Anderson (Harold), Leah Dicharry (Richard), Loyal Hoover (Elizabeth) and Curtis Hoover (Serena). Proud grandmother Christy Muhoberac, Calli Muhoberac, Megan Muhoberac, Michael Heier, Victoria Heier and Michelle Heier. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Nelva was born in New Orleans, LA. She enjoyed helping others during her 50-year career as a Registered Nurse. She was a master gardener, loved books and history, traveled far & wide, served as a Eucharistic Minister and fulfilled most of her bucket list. She truly lived and enjoyed life through her simple pleasures, especially cooking and preparing meals for her friends and family. She was well loved and fiercely independent. She will always be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to her faith & family, and her caring and loving spirit as a pillar of courage and strength.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Angela Merici Church, 901 Beverly Garden Dr., Metairie, LA on Monday, May 29th from 10:00 a.m. – noon, followed by a funeral Mass in her memory beginning at noon. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
