Lieutenant Governor Nungesser named Honorary Citizen of San Diego

Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser received a honorary citizenship designation while visiting San Diego, Calif earlier in May for the annual Gator by the Bay Festival.

The designation from the City of San Diego allows Nungesser to enjoy all the beauties of the city and its people anytime he chooses to come back.

“It is an honor to receive this designation from the mayor of such a beautiful city,” Nungesser said. “I look forward to returning again soon to make use of all the benefits.”

Representatives from the San Diego Mayor’s Office presented Nungesser with a certificate of citizenship during Gator by the Bay, an annual festival that showcases zydeco, crawfish and Louisiana culture. The Louisiana Office of Tourism sponsored the event, and a chef went from the Louisiana Seafood Marketing and Promotion Board. Steve Riley of Ville Platte, La., performed at the festival.

Nungesser encouraged San Diegans to come to Louisiana to experience authentic Cajun and Creole culture in New Orleans and throughout the state.
