Sue Ann Simmonds Nunez, age 63, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 24, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Rickie Joseph Nunez. Besides her husband, she leaves behind her three children, Michael Stephen and Christy Lynn Borrel and Rickie Jacob Nunez, as well as her grandchildren Victoria and Jacob Michalik and Nicholas and Nathan Brown.
She was the daughter of the late Jack and Rubye Long Simmonds and the late Lilac Simmonds. She was the sister of the late Judy Simmonds and Jackie Carbo (Joe). She is survived by her sister Evelyn “Fran” Simmonds, her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Kathy Nunez, nephews Eric Nunez and the late Mark Nunez and her godson and nephew Joseph Carbo (Crystal).
She is also survived by a host of family and friends. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the nursing staff of St. Tammany Parish Hospital and the nurses of Passages Hospice.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the viewing from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the service at 1:00 p.m. and the burial to follow on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Waldheim United Methodist Church, 77067 Hwy 21, Covington, LA 70435.
