Captain Stephen “Steve” William Thompson passed away, peacefully, in his sleep, on August 18, 2017, at the age of 54. Steve was the beloved husband of Rhonda Cornwall Thompson, the brother of Randy Thompson, and the brother-in-law of Heidi and Bruce Guerra, Jr., and Dana and Larry Arcement.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Trudy Hebert Thompson; his father, Harry W. Thompson, Jr.; his sister, Toni Ann Thompson McKeever; and his sister-in-law, Heather Dunavan Munro Thompson.
In addition to his wife, Rhonda, Steve also had two other loves in his life, his Labrador retrievers, Sadie and Daisy. Not only were Sadie and Daisy Steve’s loyal hunting partners, they were also considered to be his four-legged children. While Steve was preceded in death by Sadie, Daisy is still with us, and she will deeply miss her master, her friend, her hunting partner, her soulmate, her Steve.
Steve is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Steve was a licensed 200 ton U.S.C.G. merchant marine, and was the captain onboard various jack-up/lift vessels in the Gulf of Mexico. During his career, Steve was employed by Crew Boats, Inc., Superior Energy Services, and Laredo Offshore. Steve was also a charter fishing captain. Steve’s favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he thoroughly enjoyed both, all throughout his lifetime.
Steve was very friendly, had a huge heart, and was always smiling. Steve will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
