Carol Ann Francis passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at the age of 74. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph R. and Agatha Babin Francis. Loving sister of Evelyn F. Rieffel (Maurice), Clarence S. Francis (Janice), Elmo A. Francis (Cindy) and the late Joseph R. Francis Jr. (Gloria). Devoted aunt of Joette Mayeux, Maurice Rieffel Jr., Stanley Francis, Gregory Francis, Adam Francis, Nicholas Francis, Jeffery Francis, Ann Francis, Joseph Francis III and the late Joshua Francis. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many cousins, great nieces & nephews, and dear friends.
Carol Ann Francis was born in New Orleans on June 22, 1943. She was a graduate of F.T. Nicholls High, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education from LSUNO. She also earned a Masters of Education from Loyola University.
Carol began her teaching career in 1966 and retired after 34 years of teaching mathematics at Andrew Jackson High School in Chalmette, LA. She was an active member of the St. Bernard Retired Teachers Association and Beta Tau Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. She was a talented artist and enjoyed other creative projects. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by all who were touched by her love, kindness and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, October 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in Carol’s memory beginning at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
