Mel Malone State Farm will be hosting a Community Safety Event & Blood Drive on Tuesday, October 30th from 1-6 P.M. The event will take place at 1401 E. Judge Perez Dr. Chalmette, LA 70043.
There is currently an urgent need for blood donations. The Blood Center states that “every three seconds someone needs blood. In fact, one out of every three people will need it before the age of 72. That could mean you or a loved one. Unfortunately, less than 5% of the eligible population actually donates. Each day, The Blood Center must collect 300-350 pints of blood in order to maintain a stable area blood supply.” Preregistration to donate blood is not required. Donors will receive a t-shirt and a complimentary Audubon Nature Institute ticket. For more information about The Blood Center, please visit www.thebloodcenter.org.
In addition to the bloodmobile, the event will feature the St. Bernard Kids’ Safety House (1-3pm), McGruff the Crime Dog (1-3pm), Chair massages (1-5pm), giveaways, trick or treating, games, refreshments, photo booth, and so much more. Event partners include Safelite, Fradella’s Collision Centers, Earth & Body Spa, McDonald’s, Sprint, Hertz, Rocky & Carlos, the St. Bernard Sherriff’s Office and St. Bernard Fire Department.
Safelite AutoGlass will be providing windshield check-ups and distributing a free windshield repair voucher upon inspection. As an additional gift, Safelite AutoGlass will be giving away a can of glass cleaner to those who bring a donation of coffee, coffee cups, or individually wrapped snacks to benefit the Ronald McDonald House.
