The fourth week of the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office 2019 Junior Deputy Academy included a visit from members of the SWAT team, a showcase of various types of equipment used by deputies, and instruction in basic first aid and CPR.

The program, which began June 4 and runs through July 11, is designed to teach children ages 10 to 13 about the various aspects of law enforcement.

Formed in 2015, the Junior Deputy Academy is patterned after the Sheriff’s Office Citizens Police Academy for adults.
