Parish officials broke ground today on the new Paul Park located at 2313 Paul Drive (corner Paul Drive and Claiborne Avenue) in Meraux, Louisiana.

The new park will re-establish the previous neighborhood park destroyed during Katrina but expand the park and its amenities.  The new park will feature a children’s playground, outdoor basketball court, a covered picnic pavilion and walking path encircling the park and connecting to St. Bernard Manor retirement home.  The park will be built by On Point Construction, LLC of Meraux, LA at a cost of $309,194.00.

Councilwoman Wanda Alcon said, “We are delighted to be able to restore this neighborhood park which will serve so many Meraux families.  We are also thrilled to be able to offer a connection to St. Bernard Manor that will allow seniors and other Manor residents to enjoy this new park next door.

The Parish has received a $358,000 grant from the St. Bernard Court-Appointed Cy Pres Committee to complete this project.  Parish President Guy McInnis said, “We appreciate the support of Judge Robert Klees and the members of the Cy Pres Committee for their funding of this important project”.

St. Bernard Parish Government apologizes for any inconveniences that may occur during construction.
