St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office Concludes Investigation Into Fatal Crash In Poydras

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office has concluded its investigation into a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 16-year-old Poydras teenager in February, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

On Sunday, Feb. 7, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a service call for a crash involving teens riding off-road motorized vehicles along the Mississippi River levee near the 7500 block of Saro Lane in Poydras.

During the course of the investigation, deputies learned the dirt bike and the four-wheeler involved in the incident did not make contact with each other.

Based on evidence obtained, investigators determined the 16-year-old male who was riding the dirt bike tried to avoid contact with the 13-year-old male on the four-wheeler, and he was ejected from the dirt bike and into the path of the four-wheeler.
