The Nunez Community College Foundation Board invites the community to celebrate and support the college at its annual Pelicans and Pearls Fundraiser Gala on Friday, May 9, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on “Home Turf” in the newly renovated Physical Activity Center on the Nunez campus.
This annual event raises funds for the college’s scholarship program for deserving students and those in need.
Tickets are on sale now at Nunez.edu for $60 apiece. Attire is business or cocktail.
Nunez Foundation Board Chairman Cliff Englande said the college is excited to showcase its most recent campus upgrade at the Gala.
“This newly renovated facility is the latest step in Nunez’s continuing efforts to provide campus amenities and recreation opportunities that match the excellent education students receive,” said Englande. “The support generated from this event will directly impact those students’ futures.”
Gala festivities will include a tasting from area restaurants, cuisine prepared by Nunez’s Culinary Arts students, music, beer, wine, and a special Pelican Punch. There will also be raffles, a silent auction, and a bevy of “Pearl-itzer Prizes.”
Nunez Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement Katherine Lemoine added that the venue, which has been refurbished for use by Nunez students and the Pelicans Baseball Team, encapsulates the college’s commitment to progress. To celebrate, the Nunez Foundation wishes to gather community leaders, donors, faculty, students, and supporters in one room for an unforgettable evening.
“The Pelicans and Pearls Gala is a festive night to celebrate the community college. Nunez is a gem in St. Bernard, and we want to celebrate it as a pearl of our parish,” she said.
