ST. BERNARD BIRD FESTIVAL is scheduled for May 2nd – 3rd, 2025

The St. Bernard Bird Festival is scheduled for the weekend of Friday, May 2nd, 2025, and Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, at Los Isleños Museum Complex, 1345 – 1357 Bayou Road, St. Bernard, LA 70085. Hours each day are 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary, and this is the first year that St. Bernard Parish Government has assumed responsibility for organizing the event. Founded by Anthony A. “Tony” and Roselyn Fernandez, the festival educates St. Bernard school students and the public about the incredible variety and significance of birds to our lives. The festival will include presentations by accomplished ornithologist Erik Johnson, Ph.D., Audubon Delta, Audubon National Society; birding tours led by Glenn Ousset; tours of the Big Mar Waterbird Rookery (May 2nd and May 3rd) – space limited; guided walking tour of native plants by Linda van Aman; wood carving of birds by nationally renowned folk artists; Common Ground Relief discussing native trees and plants; and Krista Adams presenting about Purple Martins. * All birding tours will begin at the Outdoor Pavilion and last approximately one hour. Birding sites are approximately three miles away from the Bird Festival grounds. Visitors must provide their own transportation.
