St. Bernard Parish Hospital Receives an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group

The New Grade for spring 2025 is a National Recognition for Commitment to Patient Safety

St. Bernard Parish Hospital (SBPH) earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team,” said Lani Fast, chief executive officer, St. Bernard Parish Hospital. St. Bernard Parish Hospital is committed to maintaining the highest standards and quality of patient care and is honored to receive this recognition for the seventh consecutive time since the Fall of 2021.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations to St. Bernard Parish Hospital, its leadership, clinicians, staff, and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”
