Nicco Tommaseo, Pass Captain of the Holy Cross Tigers Powerlifting Team, participated last spring in the Powerlifting America High School Nationals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Tommaseo was named a Powerlifting All-American following his first-place gold medal win at the event which earned him a spot on the U.S. National Team. Tommaseo went on to participate in the International Powerlifting Federation Sub-Junior World Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica. The 105kg Tommaseo battled it out with Ukraine’s Mykola Hodunov. Tommaseo earned a silver medal in squat, bronze medal in bench press, silver medal in deadlift, and a silver medal overall in his equipped weight class. Team USA took gold in the team category against a strong field representing over 11 countries from around the globe. Tommaseo, a life long resident of St. Bernard, is a Holy Cross honor graduate, class of 2025, and currently attending Nicholls State University.
