Dots, Dancing & Delightful Stories: Telling Tales at the Library Series Comes to the New St. Bernard Parish Library

The St. Bernard Parish Library is happy to announce the first Telling Tales at the Library series to be held AT THE NEW LIBRARY!!! The library’s new location is 3121 E. Judge Perez Dr., in Meraux. We will begin sharing stories on Wednesday, September 17th, and continue through December 10th. We will hold two sessions set for 11 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Kids can get warmed up for morning story time fun with Wednesday Wiggles music and dance time at 10:45 a.m.

To celebrate the return of our Telling Tales series on September 17th, we are inviting our school-age library friends to come to the library to make their mark for International Dot Day at our 3:45 p.m. session. International Dot Day is a celebration of creativity, courage, and caring that started when Iowa educator Terry Shay first shared Peter Reynolds’ The Dot with his students. Shay and his students decided to celebrate the book’s themes by creating dots and signing them, and making their own mark on the world. St. Bernard Parish Library will take part in this global celebration by enjoying a reading of Peter Reynolds’ The Dot and then creating our own dot art. Participants will then make their own dot bookmark to take home and an extra one or two to share with other library patrons! All materials will be provided, and the program should last approximately 45 minutes.

Telling Tales session features books, poems, songs, flannel board stories, fingerplays, and participatory activities. Programming is geared for children 4 and up, but all ages are welcome. Sessions typically last 30 to 45 minutes. No registration is required, and participation is free. Grab & Go Fun Pages will also be available following the weekly story sessions while supplies last.

Library patrons are invited to like the library’s Facebook page for reminders and to keep up with all of the library’s activities. For more info, please visit the library’s website at mysbpl.org, check out our Facebook page, stop by the library, or call 504-279-0448.
