Barbara Loretta DeGruy Cline

Barbara Loretta DeGruy Cline passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the age of 94.  She was the cherished wife of the late John G. Cline, and by previous marriage, the late Isodore I. Kansas.  Loving mother of Susan Slavich (Randy), Morris Kansas, Allen Kansas (Daree), Jack Kansas and John S. Cline.  Daughter of the late Louis and Barbara Whitmeyer DeGruy.  Sister of Ethel Benson and the late Louis DeGruy Jr., Myrtle Wendling, Amelia Breale and Annie Dendinger. Proud grandmother of Randy Lee Slavich Jr., Sabrina Trusty, Jeffrey Kansas, Cheri Rodriguez, Kathleen Kansas and Leslie Nixon. She is also survived and fondly remembered by her 5 great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Barbara was born in New Orleans, LA, and was a longtime resident of Chalmette and Arabi, LA. She was a member and volunteer for the Council on Aging and enjoyed honoring our troops with the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She was a devoted parishioner of both Prince of Peace and Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church. She loved organizing bus tours for family, friends and members of the Council on Aging and enjoyed running a booth at the annual fair at Prince of Peace. She was well loved and affectionately known for her good nature and very generous heart. She will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a friend of many, who loved and treasured her family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, April 6th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral Mass in her memory beginning at 1:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
