National Economic Development Week, created by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC,) aims to increase awareness for local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities and increase the quality of life.
St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation (SBEDF) is proud to participate in the nationwide campaign from May 8-13. Through online activities, SBEDF will highlight the contributions of economic development professionals to the parish, region, and nation.
“This program helps us all share information on two priorities; informing community leaders about the value of economic development, and ensuring that everyone in our communities have the opportunity to succeed through access to a good job.” -F. Michael Langley FM, CEO, Greater MSP, Minneapolis – St. Paul, MN, IEDC 2017 Board Chair.
National Economic Development Week will be observed by over a hundred communities across the US.
These coordinated activities shine a light on the importance of not only regional partnership, but also the need to be innovative and responsive to the ever changing economic landscape of a global market.
“Our organization works tirelessly to attract new businesses and contribute to sustainable economic growth for St. Bernard Parish,” explained SBEDF Executive Director, Andrew Jacques. “This often means working with GNO Inc., St. Bernard Parish Government, Louisiana Economic Development, and other regional economic development organizations to remain competitive and nimble.”
