New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute welcomes Stephen Reuther as Executive Director

The New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute (NORLI) announced today that Stephen Reuther will assume the position of its executive director on July 1, 2017. Reuther currently serves as the chief executive officer of the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce.

“Stephen will be an asset to NORLI with his commitment to the community and his incredible track record of success as a thought leader and strategic thinker,” said Christe Brewton, chairwoman of NORLI. “We are thrilled to welcome him as executive director, and we look forward to seeing this regional program grow under his leadership.”

Prior to Reuther’s six years at the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce, he began his career in residential real estate as a multi-million dollar producer. Reuther then moved on to own and manage a residential construction company named Beauregard Homes, and later formed a small media production company named Chartres Street Consulting Group. A native of St. Bernard Parish, Reuther joins NORLI at an exciting time in its history, with nearly 600 program graduates since spring of 2000.

“Having graduated from NORLI in 2011, this program served as a significant catalyst in my career. To see NORLI establish its independence, and to develop into its own, freestanding entity is something that excites me for the future of the organization and the region,” said Reuther. “I know I can provide a vision and a path by which we can pursue continued growth, and I look forward to the opportunity to lead NORLI forward for many years to come.”

In addition to his professional responsibilities, Reuther has served on the Board of Directors for multiple organizations across the region including GNO Inc., Crimestoppers GNO, the Workforce Investment Board for Planning District 1, the St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation, and NORLI. He has also served as a member of the Southeast Regional Coalition of Business Councils and the Nunez Community College Entrepreneurship Advisory Board, and he is a graduate of NORLI and Loyola Institute of Politics.  In 2015, he was named the Man of the Year by the St. Bernard Business and Professional Women’s Club. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida.

Each year, NORLI brings together a class of forty business, civic, and community leaders representing all races, genders, industries and communities with a mission to promote regional collaboration. The program provides a forum for the exchange of diverse viewpoints and is designed to enhance personal leadership skills by examining issues central to the advancement of the entire ten-parish region. The curriculum examines public policy, education, healthcare, workforce development, diversity, criminal justice, public safety, environment and sustainability and focuses on how these issues affect economic development and quality of life.
