St. Bernard Parish Coroner presents student awards for reading and writing

Dr. Bertucci presented awards to sixth grade students who excelled in reading and writing.

Dr. Bryan Bertucci, St. Bernard Parish Coroner, recently presented over 100 reading and writing awards to parish public school students. Students, grades K-12, were acknowledged for their outstanding efforts in reading and writing during the school year. Each school selected a reading award winner and a writing award winner from each grade level, and the awards were presented in a special ceremony May 9th at the Performing Arts Theater of the Chalmette High School’s Cultural Arts Center.

Award winners were:

Kindergarten: Kensley Hudson, Lynna Quach, Bree Beasley, Cheyenne Locue, Mo’lyasia Speights, London White-Stein, Kaelee Melerine, Kennedi Sartin, Isabella Newton, Karter Hills, Julianna Evans, and Aubrey Karter.

First Grade: Luke Le, Kyleigh Smith, Aubrey Hensley, Liam Abadie, MeShell Ricks, Kinlee Pohlmann, Riley Pollard, Ja’Niyah Allen, Harlem Epison, Charles Gifford, Trevor Bienemy, and Jeremy Zahn, Jr.

Second Grade: Evan Poche, Jacob Brooks, Alivia Nevels, Isabella Held, Nicholas Domino, John Farrell, Joaquin Morales, Olivia Lauga, Connor Dewey, Tristan Dubose, London Pembrick, and Kylie Dipaola.

Third Grade: Miles Patton, Raymond Williams, Dacoda Roberts, Aysia Mosely, Olivia Williams, Ilise Acosta, Alexander Alford, Christopher Tabora, Louis Schneider, Kevin Roussell, Jenelle Rotunda, and Madelynn Roussell.

Fourth Grade: Darian Oakman, Ayesha Murtaza, Jenesus Madison, Breeannah Rowell, Kayla Dials, Kylie Billiot, Robyn Hays, Halle Kessling, Lennon McMichael, Winnie Li, Denim Bell, and Aubree Diaz.

Fifth Grade: Hayden Meyer, Emma Domino, Elmi Gonzalez, Joseph Murano, Ja’Nya Lee, William Helton, Mackenzie Patton, Salma Aldarawsheh, Aubrey Villavaso, Brandon Burroughs, Ronald Mott, and Mya Billiot.

Sixth Grade: Memphis Brown, Vincent Carlos, Colby Barrow, Tristan Gourgues, Jeremiah Miller, Elena Ozuna, Sheyla Cabrera, and Delvin Ratliff.

Seventh Grade: Jeremiah Miller, Logan Blankenship, Lainey Ramirez, Anaya Jones, Lauren Dorsey, Landin Sanborn, Alyssa Laurente, and Catherine Wicker.

Eighth Grade: Falin Burke, Ashley Dourrieu, Lindsey Gallardo, Curtis Graham, DeKana St. Germain, Ethan Swan-Begnaud, Brianna Dore, and Journey Thompson.

High Schools: Sarah Borne, Emily Vu, Erica Hernandez,Lily Zwank, Grace Bartholomae, Jan Magundayao, Nicholas Marks, and Austin Mankin.

Dr. Bertucci presents these awards to students annually. “We are indeed fortunate that Dr. Bertucci has stepped forward as a wonderful partner for the school system in acknowledging the importance of reading and writing skills in a child’s education. We appreciate his generosity and interest in our students and their instructional programs,” said Doris Voitier, Superintendent of Schools.
