St. Bernard Parish Government to host an Open House on the Bluebird Park Redevelopment

St. Bernard Parish Government will host an Open House on Tuesday, September 5th to review preliminary plans for the redevelopment of Bluebird Park. The Open House will take place from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 8201 W. Judge Perez Drive, Chalmette.

Bluebird Park is located at 24 E. Chalmette Circle in the Chalmette Vista subdivision.  The Parish has received a $300,000 Community Development Block Grant to redevelop this park which has been underutilized since Katrina.  The preliminary design plan would redevelop the park with an emphasis on special needs facilities and a universal playground design the entire family can enjoy together.  “We are pleased to be working with RCL Architecture to help us create this new park.  They are very experienced in accessible design and were the architects for a popular accessible playground in Mandeville”, said Nathan Gorbaty, St. Bernard Parish Council member representing the park neighborhood.

The open house will provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the preliminary design and offer their suggestions and ideas. Everyone is welcome to attend.  If there are any questions or if you need additional information on this meeting, please contact the Grants Department at (504) 278-4226.
