Girl Scouts Louisiana East launches 30 new badges in cybersecurity, robotics, college prep plus more

Girl Scout Louisiana East newly launched badges for cybersecurity, robotics, college prep and more.

Whether your girl raves for robots, is mad about science or cares deeply for her ecosystem, there is a new Girl Scout badge for her among the 30 new badges recently introduced by Girl Scouts, designed to help enhance her one-of-a-kind Girl Scout leadership experience.

The new and unique programming, which launched last week, allows Girl Scouts, grades K through 12, to earn badges in cybersecurity, environmental advocacy, mechanical engineering, robotics, computer science and space exploration. According to Girl Scouts Louisiana East’s Chief Development Officer, Program, and Properties, Jill Pollard, the new badges combined with existing programs encourage girls to empower themselves to unleash their strengths and accomplish amazing things.

“From offering a sampling of the new outdoor and environmental conservation badges at camp to college preparation for our older Girl Scouts, they are gaining the skills to make a real impact and build a lifetime of leadership,” Pollard said.

One of the newest badges includes the College Knowledge badge, which is the first-ever Girl Scout badge dedicated to college exploration offered to high school Girl Scouts. Girls will learn how to research the college admission process, financial aid, scholarships and more. The badge also provides resources for girls who may not have access to college information outside of Girl Scouts.

The mission of the Girl Scouts is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character to make the world a better place. Girl Scouts Louisiana East offers the best leadership development program for girls grades K to 12, in the 23 parishes of southeast Louisiana.
